Frequently Asked Questions
-
What are powder brows?Powder brows are semi-permanent makeup. It gives the look of having your brows filled in with makeup pencil or powder.
-
Brows healing time frame? It takes about 30 days to completely heal. In the first 7-10 days, you'll need to avoid getting them wet, working out or wearing makeup. The initial healing process takes 10-14 days. At day 2, your brows will appear darker but do not be alarmed, this is expected. The color will lighten 20-30% when healed and will continue to fade over time. At day 4-5, you can expect your brows to start flaking. During the flaking period, your brows will appear light and patchy but give it 2-4 weeks the color will even out and resurface. Once your brows are done flaking, you can resume normal activities such as applying makeup, working out, etc. However to prolong the longevity of your brows, avoid aggressive washing and exfoliating of the brow and wear sunscreen when exposed to sunlight.

Touch Up?Brows - You will need to get a touchup 6-12 weeks after your first appointment. Not sooner. Lips - Touchup appointment can be scheduled at 8-12 weeks. For lips, it takes up to 8 weeks for the full results to show and the color to surface. This is optional. Touch-up session is considered a perfection session to go over any spots that did not pick up the pigment well or if you would like to go darker/bigger etc. If you are happy with the results, no need to schedule a touchup appointment.

What should I do before my appointment? If you have an ideal shape and color in mind, bring or send few reference photos. You may fill in your eyebrows as you normally would so I can take into consideration the shape you desire. You may pluck any unwanted stray hair if you would like but I will be doing that for you during brow mapping. And no you do not have to shave your brows prior to procedure. You will not experience any permanent hair loss from the semi permanent tattoo process. Please wear your normal makeup to your enhancement appointment. Also bring any makeup that is needed to touchup for before/after pictures. Avoid any blood thinning medication within 48 hours before your treatment. This includes Vitamin E, Aspirin, Niacin, and Advil/Ibuprofen. Avoid sun tanning one week prior to procedure. Do not consume ANY alcohol and caffeine for at least 24 hours prior your appointment. This can cause insufficient pigment application. Discontinue Retin-A at least 4 weeks prior (and avoid on eyebrow area after procedure). Refrain from use of any Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA) products close to the eyebrow area 2 weeks prior (and avoid on eyebrow area after procedure). Botox and filler on the forehead, temple, and eye area should be avoided 1 month prior to procedure for those who do not regularly receive injectables. No brow waxing, tinting, or threading one week prior (the more natural hair growth you have, the better!). Avoid Chemical Peeks, Microdermabrasion or facials for 4-weeks prior to procedure. If you have anemia or low iron, please take an iron supplement prior to procedure.

Pre-Care Eyeliner InstructionsNo fake lashes - they have to be removed at least 2 weeks prior to the appointment and can't be put back on until 2 weeks after the touch up. No lash serums for at least one month before. No lash lifts/tints at least 10 days prior, and must wait 2 weeks after touch up. No Blepharitis (eyelid infection, usually caused by poor makeup removal habits and falsies). Eye surgery needs a min of 6 months before tattoo, but surgery on the actual eye itself needs a note from doctor.
-
Aftercare Eyeliner InstructionsWe recommend on a dry healing method (until the scabs are gone - usually it takes about one week, might be longer for some, but generally about that time) Between appointments, be careful not to use creams/products that contain acids or ingredients that will lighten or exfoliate the skin. What to expect in the next few days: DAY 1: May be some swelling by end of day. Clients may apply ice over a clean cloth, but not directly on skin. DAY 2: May be some swelling, but should go down by the end of this day or the next. DAY 3: Skin may feel dry, this is normal. Light layer of provides ointment may be applied, but very carefully and not in excess. DAY 4 ONWARD: Continue to keep area dry and free of makeup/products until scabs are gone (no sauna, pools, sunbathing, do not peel scabs)

How long does it take for the procedure? The procedure lasts roughly two hours but may be longer or shorter. Please allow a solid 3-hour window for your appointment. It likely will not require that much time but it is not something that can be rushed.

Am I a good candidate?Microblading is fit for dry and normal skin types. It is not recommended for those with oily skin type as the strokes tend to blur with poor retention. For oily skin, Ombre powder brows may be the best option. Nano, nano combo, ombre and powder brows are good for all skin types such as dry, normal, oily, or sensitive. Lip blush tattoo is good for all skin types such as dry, normal, oily, or sensitive. Fever blisters are a common side effect of lip tattooing. If you have any history of fever blisters, cold sores (even if it has been years ago), it is recommended that you call your primary care provider for antiviral medications and to take prior to and after your appointment. Take it as prescribed by your pcp. Any active cold sores will require a reschedule. This is important because if these instructions are not followed or if information is withheld, you may end up with fever blister outbreaks all over your lip during the healing period. You may not be a good candidate for permanent makeup if you have certain health conditions or take certain medications. Semi permanent makeup is NOT recommended for clients who are or have: Pregnant or breastfeeding Chemotherapy/radiation Skin conditions such as keloids, skin irritations or rashes near the site, etc Viral infections or diseases, cold or flu Botox within the last 1 month Autoimmune disease Used accutane in the past year Diabetes, epilepsy Please inform your artist if you have any allergies, medical conditions, or take any medications.

I have old, microblading on my brows. Will you still be able to do them?I typically do not work over another artist's work. However, exceptions may be made if it is faded by 50-70% or the color is invisible/has been removed completely. If you have prior work done, ombre or powder brows may be the best options for coverups and corrections. But if they are too dark, you will not be able to get the desired effect and it may come out darker or blocky. It is best to get tattoo removal first. Feel free to send me photos of your bare brow.
-
What if I had fillers done on my lips? They are perfectly fine to work with. If you plan on having them done soon, please be sure to schedule your appointment 2 weeks after filler procedure.
-
What should I do before my appointment? To ensure the best retention, it is recommended to exfoliate the lips starting a week prior to procedure by using a sugar scrub, a small toothbrush or washcloth. After exfoliating, apply Vaseline or Aquaphor for moisture. The more soft and moist your lips are, the easier it is to implant the pigment. If you have an ideal color in mind, bring or send few reference photos. Avoid any blood thinning medication day of treatment. This includes Vitamin E, Aspirin, Niacin, and Ibuprofen. Do not consume ANY alcohol or caffeine for at least 24 hours prior your appointment. Avoid smoking if possible as it will delay healing.

I had my lips tattooed in the past, will you still be able to do them?Yes, if it has faded considerably. Please send me a photo of your lips prior to booking.
